2025 ABMA Summer Meeting Recap

The 2025 ABMA Summer Meeting brought members together for a memorable long weekend of industry learning, oceanfront networking, and meaningful connection in the beautiful Florida Keys. With engaging sessions, new perspectives, and a bit of beachside fun, the event was the perfect midyear reset for the boiler industry community.

We kicked things off Friday with registration and check-in, sponsored by UL Solutions, where members were welcomed with lanyards sponsored by Miura, Wi-Fi sponsored by Metal Forming Solutions, and fresh coffee at the Hospitality Café, sponsored by Preferred Utilities.

 

The afternoon was filled with the Opening General Session, sponsored by Victory Energy, featuring keynote speaker Scott Mann, retired Green Beret and founder of Operation Pineapple Express. His message on building trust and human connection set the tone for a purposeful weekend.  

That evening, attendees gathered for our “Under the Sea” Welcome Reception, sponsored by NBBI. With themed cocktails, ocean-inspired décor, and breezy networking, the event welcomed everyone to the Florida Keys in style. 

   

Saturday morning began with a member breakfast, sponsored bBoileroom Group & FIREYE, and Wi-Fi powered by Honeywell to keep attendees connected.

                   

The day’s Morning Session featured several impactful presentations and a refresh at the Hospitality Café, sponsored by Robinson Fans:

  • Matthew Vazquez (ASME) shared updates in “Key Changes of the 2025 Edition of the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code and Beyond”.

  • Sandra Alvarado (APECS Consulting) presented “Boiler Air Permitting: Unexpected Considerations”, covering emerging environmental compliance topics.

  • Dr. Rick Marks (RelateWell Institute) wrapped the session with “Leading with Emotional Intelligence”, connecting leadership to effective communication.  

   
Following the sessions, members gathered for the Group Luncheon, sponsored by SIMONEAU & Autoflame.

    

 

In the evening, the Cornhole Networking Reception, sponsored by Northern Blower, brought attendees together for laid-back competition, tailgate bites, and fun under the sun. Congratulations to The Zoeller's for taking home the win! 

                     

Sunday started with a member breakfast sponsored by Superior Boiler & Webster Combustion! and Wi-Fi sponsored by R.W. Beckett!

  

 At the same time, at the Spouse/Guest Breakfast & Paint & Sip, sponsored by Nationwide Boiler, guests enjoyed a mimosa bar and painting by the ocean, relaxation and creativity at its finest! 

    

 

The Morning Session continued with the following presentations and a Hospitality Café, sponsored by Sterling Deaerator:

  • Steve Jobin (TGWT) and Matthew Coffindaffer (AWT) presenting “AWT Overview & Water Treatment Insights”.

  • Joel Amato & Greg Goossens (NBBI) followed with “Education and Collaboration Opportunities with Chief Boiler Inspectors”.

 

 

Later, the afternoon brought two more informative presentations:

  • Bernie Sheff (American Biogas Council ABC) led “Boiler Applications in the Renewable Energy Industry: Overview and Policy Trends”, offering a forward-looking perspective on renewables.

  • Peter DeWitt (Armstrong International) closed with “Demystifying Steam: Where and When Heat Pumps Make Sense”.

 

   

At midday, the WIBI Luncheon & Fireside Chat, sponsored by BFS Industries & SIMONEAU, brought together women in the boiler industry for a lively discussion featuring Nancy SimoneauJackie Hodes, and Dustin Divinia.

 

   

The day closed with the energetic Dessert Social + Silent Disco, sponsored by Industrial Steam. Guests enjoyed sweet treats and danced the night away in glowing headphones under the stars. 

 

   

 

Monday kicked off with our member breakfast, provided by the 2026 ABMA BOILER Expo and Wi-Fi sponsored by LAARS Heating Systems! 

  

The Closing General Session, sponsored by Applied Heat Recovery & alliantgroup, featured two powerful presentations:
  • Nate Bolin (K&L Gates) presented “U.S. Trade & Tariff Update”, helping members navigate global commerce.

  • Donnie Campbell, real-life inspiration for Ted Lasso, delivered “What’s Your MVP?”, a heartfelt look at leadership and motivation.

 

 

  

In the afternoon, members set out for a pre-registered Fishing Outing, sponsored by Vitotherm-USA & WARE. With four hours on the water, attendees enjoyed a little friendly competition and a lot of sunshine. 

   

That evening, we wrapped the weekend in festive style with the “Havana Nights” Closing Reception, sponsored by Frederick Cowan Products by ICI. Attendees dressed in tropical attire and enjoyed Cuban cuisine, music, and celebration on the beach.
