Impacting Your Company at Many Levels

Earlier this month, ABMA hosted the 2015 Manufacturers Conference to rave reviews.  As you will see below, the meeting was a huge success and included a fantastic tour of Michigan Seamless Tube and their new pilger mill.  A special thank you to ABMA Board Member Ted Fairley for his leadership and working with his team at Michigan Seamless to put on a great tour.

The program featured presentations that shared insights on the future workforce in manufacturing, perspectives from boiler customers in numerous sectors and offered opportunities for leadership development.

I was really excited that more than 50% of the meeting attendance was from company representatives that had never been to an ABMA event.  These future leaders gained valuable insights and I am confident that is the first of many opportunities for these individuals to engage with ABMA.

For those unable to attend the Manufacturers Conference, I hope to see at the Annual Meeting in January.

Until Next Time,

Scott

ABMA Manufacturers Conference - Engaging Leaders

ABMA recently wrapped up a successful Manufacturers Conference at the Marriott Ann Arbor at Eagle Crest in Ypsilanti, MI. The conference focused on networking, educating and developing boiler industry leaders and sharing key trends in our sector.

The conference was hosted by Michigan Seamless Tube and featured a tour of their facility and new cold pilger mill. Tour participants learned about seamless tubes first hand and saw the state of the art expansion of their capabilities.

 alt

Once again, ABMA and numerous members will be exhibiting at one of the largest Power Generation events.

In addition, ABMA will be creating a Passport to increase traffic for our members. We will distribute this document at our booth and have a drawing among attendees that return the passport with a significant number of ABMA member booths visited.

Cheryl Jamall on the ABMA team is coordinating this new activity and wants to make sure every member participating is the passport.  Please click here to see our current list and let us know if there are any inaccuracies with the names or booth number.

U.S. State Department Planning Boiler Trade Mission to China

The U.S. Department of State (DoS) and the Chinese National Development & Reform Commission (NDRC) have decided to support Phase II of the U.S. China collaboration to implement advanced U.S. technology solutions to address the energy and environmental challenges of industrial boilers in China. They are currently coordinating a one week mission for U.S. boiler-related technology providers to visit Ningbo and Xi’an, the two pilot cities selected by NDRC Vice-Chairman Xie Zhenhua for the Phase II project. The anticipated time frame for this trip is sometime in January 2016.

The State Department is looking for boiler and burner companies to participate has asked ABMA to share this opportunity with the membership.

The mission will entail spending one day in Beijing meeting with NDRC boiler project working group officials and members of their technical team. Each city will then host the U.S. experts for two days, comprising case study presentations by U.S. experts, and technology roundtable discussions with end users, suppliers, city government officials, and there will also be site visits. In addition, the United States Trade and Development Agency is to organize a reverse trade mission to bring relevant Chinese policy makers and procurement officers from Ningbo, Xi’an, and other cities to the United States in early 2016. Click here for more details on the trade mission.

This is part of U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue and part of an agreement between the two countries during the seventh round of the U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED) June 22-24, 2015, in Washington, D.C., Secretary of State John Kerry, special representative of President Barack Obama, and State Councilor Yang Jiechi, special representative of President Xi Jinping.

Please let me know if your company is interested in participating and I can connect you with my contact at the State Department.

53. CCWG Study on Boiler Efficiency and Fuel Switching: Recognizing that industrial boilers are an important consumer of energy and source of air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, the United States and China decided to expand industrial energy efficiency collaboration to foster deeper retrofits of key energy consuming systems, and analyze the costs, benefits, and technical feasibility of fuel switching in industrial steam and process heating systems. The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the Department of State decided to release and execute the June 2015 policy implementation roadmap, which was developed under the aegis of the Climate Change Working Group by the joint bilateral technical team, in the two selected pilot cities of Ningbo and Xi’an with stakeholders, including the NDRC, provincial leaders, grid companies, private companies, and financing institutions.

The two sides decided to explore the use of U.S. technology in one or both of the pilot cities as part of the execution of the aforementioned implementation roadmap.

As an early step, the two sides plan to organize a visit by U.S. experts to Chinese stakeholders, including Chinese city managers, for deep exchange on relevant technologies, policy innovations, and market mechanisms, if funding on the two sides permits. The United States would also welcome a visit of Chinese stakeholders to the United States as the mid-point in the execution of the implementation roadmap and arrange meetings with relevant experts, if funding on the two sides permits.

Destination Orlando 2016: AHR Expo - The World's Largest HVACR Marketplace

alt

The AHR Expo brings the entire HVACR industry together under one roof to see the latest products and technology, learn about the innovations and trends that are shaping the future, and do business face to face. Returning to Orlando for the first time in six years, the Show is anticipating more than 50,000 professionals in attendance, nearly 2,000 exhibiting companies, and a wide variety of educational sessions.  As the AHR Expo is by far the largest HVACR event in the world, this means more opportunity to explore, learn, network, and get things done.
